Bujumbura, 3rd November, 2017: The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) Regional Committee against illegal exploitation of natural resources will hold its 16th meeting in Khartoum, Sudan on 7th - 10th November, 2017 to assess the implementation of the six tools on the Fight against the Illegal Exploitation of Natural Resources in the ICGLR Member States.

The meeting will be preceded by the meeting of financial and technical partners in the implementation of the Regional Initiative on Natural Resources (RINR) co-chaired by ICGLR Secretariat and GIZ.

Members of the Regional Committee will undergo capacity building training on recent trends of good governance in the mining sector, including the African Mining Vision (AMV).

The Conference Secretariat will provide updates on the status of implementation of the RINR six tools and the proposed way forward for guidance.

The meeting will also be attended by the ICGLR Executive Secretary Ambassador Zachary Muburi-Muita and the Invited partners in the implementation of the Regional Initiative.

ICGLR Member States includes the Republic of Angola, Republic of Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Kenya, Republic of Rwanda, Republic of South Sudan, Republic of Sudan, United Republic of Tanzania, Republic of Uganda and the Republic of Zambia.
